Updated: Nov 21, 2020

Have you ever felt that unpleasant strain or constant knot deep within your senses either while doing absolutely nothing, as you may think...You must have wondered what these knots are whether Muscle or Energetic and how the heck you can get rid of them.

This blog will enrich you with great tips and suggestions for how to help alleviate and/or eliminate such knots. My goal is to effectively work out the knots to release the pain and feel the relief you desire.

First what Is a Muscle Knot? Muscle knots are hard areas of muscles that tighten and contract suddenly even when the tissue is not in motion. These knots often lead to pain and inflammation in different parts of the body. Muscle knots are also known as myofascial trigger points, which are small areas of muscle or fascia that become very sensitive to touch. They can occur anywhere in the body where muscle or fascia is located. These knots develop when the fascia becomes tightened and tense, even when the muscle is in a relaxed state. There are two main types of muscle knots: Active muscle knots are the most common as they are hard to ignore. These knots cause intense pain, without even touching the tense area. This pain can become so tight that it will start to pull on other bands of fascia, causing other knots to develop. AND Passive muscle knots are not as commonly known, because they will only cause pain when pressure is applied to them directly. These are usually discovered during self-massage or a massage therapy treatment. Just like active knots, it is essential to get these knots worked out, or else it could cause more muscle tension and pain in the future.

What Causes Muscle Knots? There are numerous causes of myofascial trigger points, from psychological stress to physical overuse. To prevent muscle knots from developing, it is important to understand what caused them in the first place. Getting to the root of the problem... Ever hear that before?! ~~~~~~~

Energetic knots, can be just as painful as muscle knots and reach out far beyond the physical body! And again getting to the root of the problem will help you heal from Energetic Knots!

What is an Energetic Knot? Let me explain that here for you in terms of the physical lower body. Have you ever had what feels like a knot in a muscle on your body? Energetic knots are literally what they sound like. They are similar to having a knot in your muscles, but rather these are within your energy fields and energy patterns as well. We have all felt this at one time or another. That pain in your leg or back or stomach and feels like a huge ? KNOT! This is something that many people can understand on the physical level, but the same is also felt on the energetic level with these types of knots within your energy fields.

What causes Energetic Knots? This is something that is very common for people who are dealing with a lot of turmoil in their life. They are created by a buildup of energy and generally a blockage on each side. This can cause pooling of energy and the knot can continue to increase in size if not removed and the area healed. What happens is one blockage starts and the energy starts to build and build and build. Eventually the flow becomes so slow or even stops that it creates another block on the other side and now you have trapped energy that feels like a knot. This is when the energy continues to pool and the knot continues to get bigger & bigger. This can happen in multiple areas of your energy fields as they are not limited to only your chakras or auras, but can be created anywhere that energy flows for your energetic patterns. The energetic knot holds onto the energy from the pattern where it is located and continues to build for the area causing a low vibrational level and slow moving energy which can then cause even more problems later on down the road.

The most common causes of muscle knots are: Stress and anxiety Dehydration Poor posture Poor lifestyle choices Poor nutrition Overuse, heavy lifting, repetitive strain Bad ergonomics Fatigue Sleeping posture Prolong sitting Muscle or bodily trauma The most common causes of muscle knots are overuse and poor workplace ergonomics. Our bodies are not designed to sit for long periods of time while leaning over a computer. This causes the muscle fibers to stick to each other, causing myofascial tension and poor posture. How to Treat Muscle Knots and Energy Knots

Depending on the severity of the muscle knot, there are multiple techniques and modalities available for you. How to treat Energetic Knots *Tapping, Hot & Cold Stone Massage, Guided Meditation and Hypnotherapy and here are a few others *Reiki First for those that have not experienced it... What is Reiki? Reiki is a spiritual healing practice which originated in Japan in the early 20th century, and is built on the belief that the body is innately able to heal itself. The word “reiki” loosely translates to “universal life energy” — an energy which practitioners believe exists within, and surrounds, each body — and the practice involves transmitting or balancing that energy, through the specific placement of hands on or above a recipient’s (fully clothed) body. Most commonly, reiki is used to ease pain, anxiety, fatigue, and depression, but since at its core is the conviction that the body in its natural state can heal any ailment, the applications, theoretically, are endless How do Energy knots affect me? Symptoms are whole system responses to stress, imbalances, blockages or contractions, and/or lower life force energy. Restoring health and wellbeing is accomplished by a restoring, balancing, harmonizing, normalizing, or promoting the free flow of energy by removing/releasing the energetic blocks that contract life force energy. How does Reiki work? Energy healing occurs when there is a restoration of fluency (easeful and effective delivery) of life force energy and a clearing of energetic contractions or knots in the subtle energy fields. Healing the subtle energy system and fields is essential to overall health and wellbeing. I perform both hands-on and hands-off methods. It is always the clients decision. More on EK's Energetic knots (contractions) come from various sources of trauma, stress, or overwhelm. These can be caused by emotional-physical-sexual abuse, prolonged exposure to stress and severe circumstances, and/or the absence of emotional or physical nurturing. Energy knots behave much the same way that a clenched, or knotted, muscle does when it spasms or cramps up. The cramping energy is restricted from flowing —and subsequently forms a trigger, or hot-button, that has a physical location and emotional activation as well. People who have 'knots' or blocks to their energy system or fields may feel a variety of symptoms. Frequently, initial symptoms are barely conscious and are subtly felt more than consciously known—until they become more severe and impose their presence on conscious awareness. Symptoms in the body can include areas, or locations, that are stiff, tense, numb, cold, or feel disconnected, dull, discomfort or painful. Additional symptoms include nausea, feeling shut-down or distant, low libido, vaginal dryness, erectile dysfunction, bad memories or nightmarish images, and/or recoiling from touch. Psychological-emotional symptoms include being triggered by “hot-button” trigger issues, irrational fears, over-reactions, depression, lethargy, hopelessness, and despair. As an Usui Reiki Master, I am trained to recognize that all illnesses have a spiritual component and that everything is connected–the spiritual, emotional, physical and mental. Therefore, if one of these systems is out of balance the disharmony can be felt within the entire energetic field or web. The goal of a healing is to create balance within this web and create harmony where the spirit is suffering. Nameste' Kelly Elizabeth
